More people are cooking at home than ever. Bakeware sets, utensils, pots and pans, kitchen towels, and food-related decor might be a highlight for the holidays this year. Air fryers are all the trend, too!
Indoor Health and Fitness
Not only are people spending more time in their kitchens, but they probably developed an at-home exercise routine when they needed to (or have to) prevent the gym. With temperatures falling, workout gear sales will probably rise, too — as this season has been the best motivator for putting together an indoor exercise room.
Most commonly, more individuals have been working from home. Consumers will realize it is time to update their job desk, office chair, monitor, keyboard, printer, and whatever else they are using 40 hours each week. You do not realize something needs updated unless you are utilizing it each day!
Regardless of what it is, get creative here. We know that liquor sales have spiked throughout quarantine. We can also assume, based on low stock at our favorite shops, that more at-home actions like board games and outdoor sport kits are a massive hit. And with more house renovation projects occurring when people finally had the time, hardware shops can really hit it difficult for your holidays.
In general, whether someone is back to work or not, more people have recognized the value of being at home and spending time with their nearest and dearest. Use this knowledge to contact clients this 2020 holiday season.
2. Improved In-Store Interaction

With more value in staying in your home, you realize that individuals will be taking the easy route when it comes to shopping. Why stop in a shop when gift shopping is only a click away?
Make a trip to your storefront rewarding. What can consumers have access to in-store just? Special discounts? Exclusive items not found online?
Most of all, you need to make a trip to your storefront count. Now’s not the time for subpar customer service.
Train your team up to be sure they’re welcoming and know precisely how to navigate the shop. Employees should greet everyone who comes in, share a few specials, ask whether the client wants help finding anything, and tell them their name. It’s easy, but it makes a massive difference.
There is still a group of individuals who will always need to shop in stores instead of online, so help them feel like they have made the perfect choice in doing this.
3. Online Shopping Will Win
Just because there’s a select group of individuals that will always shop in-store, there is another group of people that will never bounce back from online shopping — particularly after the year we have all had.
You can also sync your online store up to social media accounts, allowing visitors to make purchases from the storefront through these apps. Facebook takes the lead in this category, with the most storefront purchases being made via their platform.
Digital marketing isn’t restricted to social media, however. This past year, there was a 134 percent growth in SMS (Short Message Service, better known as text) sends during cyber week and a 14 percent growth in email sends on Thanksgiving day.
The 2020 holiday season is the time to experiment with text messaging and emails! When you haven’t used them, you might be falling behind. Small companies have picked up on this trend, too, understanding the value of internet sales.
Pro Tip: Get your texts, emails, and social networking posts written and aligned whenever possible. Developing a calendar and composing content beforehand can allow you to stay on track. Typically, you can even schedule content to go out on a particular date and time, which means that you don’t need to worry about missing a message.
4. An Extended Holiday Season
The previous 2020 retail trend has to do with the deadline.
The most notable prediction is that, because of the large volume of internet shoppers, the holiday season will start sooner than previously.
That’s correct — that means your customers are currently shopping. Plus they could continue shopping after the traditional holiday season has finished.
2020 literally threw the notion of time from the window. Whether it’s early or late, people are far more understanding about timelines.
Plus, when you consider how many family gatherings might not be able to happen, there is no telling when folks will be getting together and exchanging gifts this year.
For others, money is tight, so present buying might be more of a challenge that leads to lower spend per transaction.
